Approach the Throne

“ Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of Grace, that we may receive Mercy and find grace to help in the time of need.” Hebrews 4:16 (ESV)

I want you to read that verse and then read it again. While God often teaches us to walk in humility, this verse also lays over us the authority to approach our Lord with confidence. Confidence not in ourselves but in our Savior. Unfortunately many Christians do not feel they have the authority to do so, especially women. We feel as though we are not old enough, wise enough, pretty enough, famous enough or Holy enough. We think that because we aren’t married or because we are married , that because we do not have a huge social media platform, we hold little to no authority. WRONG.

We hold authority in Jesus Christ our Lord and what more authority could we ask for? When you read through the Bible there are countless stories of women who come to the throne in confidence. Hannah who approached the throne endlessly to ask for a son. Rahab who came with such strong faith that she and her family were saved from destruction and is in the lineage of our Jesus. Esther who drew near to the heavenly king for help with the earthly king and saved the Jewish people. The woman who simply had enough confidence in Jesus to touch the hem of his garment and be healed. We serve the same Savior as the many women before us, we are part of the same family, the same chosen priesthood and royal people (1 Peter 2:9).

You do not have to wait until you are married and have kids or have read the entire Bible or check any boxes before you can approach the throne of Grace. Your earthly guidelines and self created restrictions have no merit in the throne room of our Lord. Approach the throne boldly, with confidence in Christ Jesus, for yourself, for others, for no reason at all other than to bask in the Mercy of the Father. Approach it.
